holiday cards for all!

i will be selling original watercolor holiday cards (and general greeting cards) at the Pratt Fine Art Center Holiday Art Sale from Nov. 23-30, 11am - 7pm every day. my mom Mindi Katzman will also be selling work, along with a ton of other great local artists. pass the word on!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Remember when you were little, and you helped your mom cut shapes out of dough with cookie cutters? And you got just a little upset when your gingerbread men didn't look just like the ones you saw in pictures? Now's your chance to try again! Or go wild with any kind of shape. Getting those old cake icings and sprinkles out of the pantry sure is one delicious mess. Sugar cookies are by far a necessity for the holiday season. Cookie cutters come in every shape and size for just about any occasion these days, and besides, have you seen these incredible cookie cutters? I'm hoping they'll be under the tree for me...


Ingredients
•1 1/2 C butter, softened
•2 C white sugar
•4 eggs
•1 t vanilla extract
•3 C whole wheat flour
•2-3 C all-purpose white flour
•2 t baking powder
•1 t salt

Directions
Soften butter. Cream butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add in flour, baking powder, and salt to wet mixture. Mix well. Chill dough for at least an hour. Once chilled, preheat oven to 400˚F. Roll dough on floured counter to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters, or simply a floured juice glass. Place cookies an inch apart on a greased cookie sheet, and bake for approximately six minutes. Decorate however you please, and enjoy!
