fave five of the week!

1. If you've ever been interested in homemade cosmetics or saving money (come on, I know I have you on that one), try out this natural bronzer recipe courtesy of Free People. Their blog has some great DIY projects that are easy to use as a point of departure.*

*This is my mom and my term for how we approach recipes--generally more of an experimental and creative what similar ingredients do I have right now that can create something equally delicious? take on things.

2. a TIE! Between two kickass women:

ELLEN!!!! How can you not love Ellen DeGeneres? This week in Ellen news:

Ellen DeGeneres + Finding Nemo = Finding Dory

!!!!

My mom's favorite part of Finding Nemo was the colors. I can't blame her. That's half the reason I'm looking forward to this movie! But also, let's be honest, I can't wait for yet another lady-starring Pixar to premiere over summer. Let's hope it lives up to Brave

And speaking of Ellen, I just watched a laugh-so-hard-you-cry video of Kristen Bell and sloths on The Ellen DeGeneres show. And speaking of Kristen Bell, she's the other half of this tie! The VERONICA MARS Movie kickstarter has beyond exceeded their first goal, promising only for an even awesome-er movie than expected in the first place. I've already donated--come on, Marshmallows! Get on the train! (I didn't say bus for a reason.)

3. hitRECord

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's newest project is all about collaborations. Are you a creative soul? Write? Animate? Draw? Compose? Anyone who creates any variation of these things can upload a RECord. Someone else adds on to it. hitRECord's most successful collaborations are then compiled into books from which all the contributors on all the pieces profit. There are some pretty unique pieces on here, some with over 10,000 collaborations!

4. Lucy Knisley's newest book, Relish: My Life in the Kitchen. One of the only two books I have ordered on pre-order in my life. (I waited in line for the Harry Potter books.) Between love for comics and gastronomic preferences, and my total adoration for her an artist, this girl and I seriously need to be friends. My only criticism is the storyline itself--it's not the most compelling narrative and jumps around without ever going too in depth emotionally, and lacks the edge I like in comics. That said, Knisley features orgasmic descriptions of food and also extremely beautiful drawings. Let me know what you all think.

5. Viva la France! France will now pay for the full cost of abortions for any woman seeking an abortion. And they will make free, contraception available to 15-18 year olds seeking to have safe sex. Hooray for family planning!

That's it for the week, y'all. Thanks for reading!
